At United Way of North Idaho, our mission is to improve the lives of people in our community. We work to meet people’s needs every day and to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place.
It is a common misconception that United Ways across the country are simply chapters of United Way World Wide. In fact, United Way of North Idaho is one of roughly 1,000 United Ways nationwide. Each is independently incorporated and entirely governed by local volunteers. The money raised in each of these communities is for local programs in that area. United Way of North Idaho raises and distributes funds to help the most vulnerable in our community. United Way of North Idaho was established in Coeur d'Alene in 1957 as an Idaho Nonprofit organization. Our tax ID# is 82-0232729.
At United Way of North Idaho, we are devoted to fiscal responsibility amid our efforts to engage and mobilize the community and address common local challenges. Every health, education and financial independence project in which we're involved begins with evidence-based decision-making that minimizes wasted effort among our community partners and maximizes the collective impact of local resources. United Way of North Idaho funds these local projects through the Community Care Fund. This Grant Process allows for multi-year funding for collective impact partnerships that foster shared visions, and program grant funding for individual organizations to support solutions that address community need in the areas of education, financial independence and health.
Donors, both corporate and individual, account for the majority of financial support to United Way. Through your gift, you change not only a single life, but our whole community because when you reach out a hand to one, you influence the condition of all.
