Day of Action | May 12 & Sept. 24, 2026
Day of Caring brings together nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations for hands-on service projects that make a real impact across North Idaho. This year, UWNI will host two Days of Action on May 12 and September 24, offering even more opportunities to give back.
All volunteer opportunities and project listings will be managed through Volunteer North Idaho (VNI). Nonprofits are encouraged to submit projects now—submissions are open, and projects will be posted on VNI as they are reviewed and approved by UWNI staff and board members. Businesses and community groups can explore available opportunities on VNI and sign up to volunteer once projects are live.
Please follow the directions below to submit a project or register to volunteer through VNI.
Registration is now open! If your organization is interested in incorporating volunteerism in its workplace culture, United Way of North Idaho's Day of Caring is a great place to start. Join us in giving back to our community with over 20 unique projects every year in September.

Volunteer Teams
Project Proposal submissions are now open for 2025. Previously, Day of Caring was rebranded as Day of Action for 2026 in alignment with United Way Worldwide. For more on Day of Action, visit UWW.
UWNI is proud to announce that 2026 project proposals will be submitted through Volunteer North Idaho. Projects will need to provide a copy of their up-to-date liability insurance; these will be submitted via email to UWNI staff member Jen Reynolds, Jen@uwnorthidaho.org.
